We're heartbroken to inform you that Darleen has passed away in her sleep Sunday morning. As you all know, she has been in a coma since March 19th, 2008 and was going through an enduring recovery process suffering from severe brain injury after the car accident. My father was with her the day before and said she was bright and smiling all day. The nurses were with her in the morning when we arrived and her heart just slowly stopped. She went very peacefully.

ReplyDeleteI wish I could be there this weekend, but unfortunately I live in Singapore now and I can't make it back. I still think about you sometimes and I remember some fun memories we had at your old house in Colorado and also at your aunts place. I remember the last time I saw you in Colorado right before you moved to Florida. I've also been to Florida once to visit you in the hospital, which I'm sure you know.
I know you are at peace now and today I say goodbye, but one day we will meet again.

To know your dad.....I got the the chance to know you're family. On that note, I had the privilege of knowing you. You were 6, 7 at the most, running around, jumping off the couch, watching your dad and I feed the fish........you were so amazed. You were quite silly half the time. I met you with a smile, you gave me laughter. You've embedded yourself in my heart, all of our hearts. There, you will always remain. I will come to greet you once again. ReplyDeletemy name is Amanda. i went to high school and middle school with Darleen. i still remember the first time i met her. She walked in real shy in our history class lol she was wearing a jean skirt and yellow and green spaghetti shirt on. my first impression on her was omg shes so pretty lol. Over the years that i have known her she was always a sweet person and ALWAYS smiling! The last time i talked to her was on Myspace and then she got on less and less. So i decided to look her up and i found this blog in 2009. i couldnt believe it..
Since then i have been following this blog hoping to hear good news and i love the pictures that you would put on here, she looked so pretty and happy!
My prayers go out to all of her family! Thank you for keeping updates with all of us who cared. May she finally be at peace.

Darleen and her dear family, you guys have touched my family and I profoundly over the last couple of years, you have been such a role model and the epedimy of what family means, although my heart aches with sadness knowing what you and your family are going thru...I have to say all I can see is sweet Darleen with that wonderful smile and knowing that her spirit soars free and content and taking with her the love and devotion you gave to her. Damn, I'm just stunned she's gone. I had the biggest crush on her in elementary. Though she never gave me a chance to get to know her, I know she had a great heart. May she be in God's eternal kingdom. R.I.P., Darleen.
